I have been toying with the idea of writing a blog for years now. I used to write short stories a lot when my kids were little, but that was during a time in my life when I was still “under construction”. I’ll just leave that there for now!
Let’s just start by saying, I am not a writer; I have never taken writing classes except for one mandatory Creative Writing Class in college. With that in mind, please don’t expect perfection. My grammar, and spelling are not guaranteed to be on point, but the words will come from my heart and come from personal experiences and the work of an Amazing God, my family and friends. (My kids are probably smacking their foreheads now).
As you have probably seen from the heading, this Blog will focus on Faith, Family, Friends and Forgiveness. That incorporates my life in a nutshell. This first Blog is meant to introduce myself to those who don’t know me and to give a little background on my life. I am a busy working wife (round 2), mom, grandma (GIGI) and friend! I LOVE to cook and bake! I am part of an Amazing Care Group at church, I volunteer with our Kid’s Club and the Kitchen Committee.
So, with all of that, my heart, after working for years with the youth group teenagers (yes! I was that brave and loved EVERY minute of it) is really in supporting Women. Especially young moms that are in the trenches working, navigating life, and trying to raise their kids. I raised 4 kids of my own and know what it is like. Insert small plug…. If you know one of these mom’s … cook them a meal, watch their kids so they can have a date night, be encouraging, let them know they are not out there on their own, and by ALL means, PRAY for them.
History lesson #1:
I was born in Washington DC. My mom worked for the Naval Research Laboratory, and my dad was a Disabled American Vet (59th Battalion Navy Seabee) and he my stay-at-home parent. I am the youngest of 5 siblings but the only child of my parents. I have a sister, Carol Ann, on my dad’s side of the family. And 2 sisters, Sharon and Debbie and a brother Eugene (Jack) on my mom’s side of the family. My parents retired to Florida with 5 other Retired Navy Seabee families in 1969. I started Kindergarten that year in the 1st Kindergarten Class in public schools at Venice Elementary. In 5th grade I moved to Garden Elementary as part of the 1st 5th grade class at that new school. Go Garden Gators! (The only 2 years of my life I would cheer for a Gator- LOL) Go NOLES! I attended Venice Jr High and Venice High School graduating Class of ’82! Best Class Ever! Go Indians!
Long story short… I got accepted to FSU on a full ride with my BFF Nancy and then life CHANGED!
Wound up getting Married to my high school sweetheart and moving to New Hampshire (yes, Nancy is still speaking to me 41 years later after deserting her).
There is much more! The rest is a LONG story filled with Faith, Family, Friends and oh the Forgiveness!
